Psychotherapy
The word psychotherapy simply means talk therapy with a focus on your mental health. Of course there is much more to psychotherapy than talking. It is the type of focused dialog between two people that makes the difference. “Psyche is a Greek word for soul…Therapeuein means ‘to listen or attend to psyche, the soul” (Hollis, 2023). In a way, therapy is a place to listen to your deepest self that is often filled with rich wisdom and guidance to living a full life. In our modern world, there are many distractors and demands that pull us away from our inner world, our calling, and purpose. Psychotherapy can be a way to start paying attention to ourselves again and to make meaningful changes in our lives.

Does Psychotherapy work?
A seminal meta-analysis study concluded that psychotherapy helps people feel better with the results of 75% improvement compared to control groups regardless of approach or type of therapy (Smith & Glass, 1977). Researchers continue to recommend that the focus of treatment is on the therapeutic relationship as the most important factor in successful therapy outcomes (Norcross & Lamber, 2018). In other words, psychotherapy works best when two people create a healthy, honest, collaborative, and healing relationship.
My Approach
-
Being connected and present with yourself is an important factor in change. Deep connections may bring clarity to your situation.
-
I want to give you a safe space to freely express your emotions, thoughts, and/or behaviors. You may start to discover and unlock desires, fears, worries, and hidden areas of the mind.
-
I start to notice thought patterns, mannerisms, and emotional processes that block your path and goals. You will learn to refocus your life to experiences that are more meaningful.
-
The most important aspect of psychotherapy is the relationship we create together. Part of that involves sharing our inner experiences. I may notice barriers, mental rules, and behaviors. This process often reveals important information about your past, your worries, traumas, relationships, existential concerns, and the deep unconscious. Drawing out those insights and automatic behaviors into the light increases self-awareness and change.
